It’s officially bike riding season! While bike riding should be a carefree, fun activity, it’s always important to ensure that kids are being safe while enjoying their summer. This is why every year the Bethlehem Police Department hosts the Walk & Roll Fest in Delmar, to help residents learn about bike and pedestrian safety. Stewart’s Shops was happy to attend such a great event with our ice cream cart in tow! Participants were treated to an ice cream cone during the event, plus an ice cream certificate for later on, donated by Stewart’s Shops.
This year, the Walk & Roll Fest included a bike skills station, pedestrian safety awareness activities, helmet fittings, and bike safety checks! And these lessons aren’t just for kids. Michael Whiteley, a Sergeant with the Bethlehem Police Department said, “We’re showing not only the kids but the parents things like where the distance is that a car can stop for someone when they cross the crosswalk.”
Bethlehem PD said, “We had a great time meeting with the community and talking about pedestrian, bicycle, and crosswalk safety (and the Stewart’s Shops ice cream)!”
Stewart’s Shops is proud to support this initiative and many others. This past week alone we were able to donate $49,694 to 120 organizations. Check out the listing below:
